Welcome to Couch versus Couch, an ongoing series where we aim to highlight the best multiplayer escapades to share with your friends. I've spent years playing games and putting together tournaments. I'm here to report back on what we've found.
Here comes Volume 2 which features questionable driving, narwhal baiting and some extremely questionable cuisine. Happy gaming readers.
BURNOUT REVENGE

THE HIGHLIGHT: There are not many things in video games more fun than squishing one of your friends into a corner, and watching their car disintegrate. Its a truly fantastic arcade racing game with a great sense of speed. The last Burnout, before the series went open world and ditched local multiplayer in Paradise.
GENRE: Racing
PLATFORMS: XBOX 360/ XBOX ONE
NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 1 - 4
NINTENDO-WIFE SAYS: Vicious, my favourite game of all time. Bring on the Crashes
STARWHAL

THE HIGHLIGHT: The ridiculous sight of seeing four Narwhals sliding around a stage, trying desperately to pierce each others hearts, is a joy. The controls and physics are great. The feeling of being slightly out of control, really compliments the tense Narwhal-Horn duelling gameplay.
GENRE: Party
PLATFORMS: Wii U
NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 1 - 4
NINTENDO-WIFE SAYS: Is that the one where you flip around like a flippy floppy sausage, love that one.
ASTRO BEARS

THE HIGHLIGHT: Its the classic mobile game 'Snake' but in 3D with teddy bears and 3 other players. That really should be enough to sell you on it really. Its addictive simple fun. Its great when you manage to construct a wall of death, by zig zagging back on yourself. Less fun is accidently killing yourself building said wall.
GENRE: Party
PLATFORMS: SWITCH
NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 1 - 4
NINTENDO-WIFE SAYS: It would be fun, if you didn't play it.
Battle Chef Brigade

THE HIGHLIGHT: Its Master Chef with Monsters. A unique mix of 2D battling, and match 3 puzzling. You and a friend prep opposing meals, for up to three judges. Its great fun, you battle over the best ingredients, and try to make the best meals you can against the clock. The best bit is beating your opponents Michelin Starred meal, because they forgot to put the key ingredient in the pot. Satisfying as a home cooked roast dinner.
Genre: Puzzle/Cooking
Platforms: SWITCH
Number of Players: 1 - 2
Nintendo-Wife thought: Ohhh my favourite! If it had more content it would be a perfect game.
WARIO WARE SMOOTH MOVES

THE HIGHLIGHT: Its Nintendo magic, condensed into 5 second mini games, and its brilliant. You have a handful of seconds to identify what you have to do, and well do it. The controls are simple, the pace is frantic and the games are hilarious. Its an easy recommend for any games night. The Wii version has the added benefit of making everyone look a bit silly, while playing it.
Genre: Puzzle/Cooking
Platforms: Wii
Number of Players: 1 - 4
Nintendo-Wife thought: Fun but rank, a bit icky visually. Too many noses and other such things.
